The Arizona sports betting partnerships with tribal casinos keep coming.

With the announcement on Friday that Churchill Downs-owned TwinSpires AZ Sportsbook will partner with the Tonto Apache Tribe, owner and operator of the Payson-based Mazatzal Hotel & Casino, the total number of sportsbook/tribal casinos partnerships is up to five.

This deal allows for a TwinSpires retail sportsbook to open within the hotel and casino and for TwinSpires to launch its online sportsbook within the state, subject to regulatory approvals.

Other Tribal Partnerships

On July 20, PointsBet Arizona announced plans to partner with Cliff Castle Casino Hotel, a Subordinate Economic Organization of the federally recognized Yavapai-Apache Nation.

PointsBet AZ Sportsbook will be working directly with the tribe in pursuit of a sports wagering license.

WynnBet Arizona Sportsbook announced in early July it had partnered with the San Carlos Apache, which operates the Apache Gold Casino and Apache Sky Casino.

The Harrah’s AK-Chin Casino has partnered with William Hill AZ Sportsbook, both part of the Caesars brand and the Quechan Casino Resort has partnered with Unibet.

In mid-July, Gila River announced plans to build its fourth casino, located south of Chandler near Gilbert Road and Hunt Highway. It is reportedly expected to partner with BetMGM Arizona Sportsbook for sports betting, although a formal announcement has not been made.

Other Partnerships

DraftKings AZ Sportsbook and the PGA Tour announced on April 14 a partnership that includes a new retail sportsbook at TPC Scottsdale, home of the Waste Management Open.

The Arizona Diamondbacks and Caesars Entertainment released plans to build a sportsbook and bar on the plaza adjacent to Chase Field in May. The deal gives Caesars online MLB betting in Arizona in addition to sponsorship opportunities with the Diamondbacks.

Bally’s and the Phoenix Mercury announced a 15-year agreement. Bally’s will host and manage an online platform within the state and operate a retail sportsbook near Phoenix Suns Arena while promoting its services during Mercury contests.

The NBA’s Phoenix Suns made a deal with FanDuel AZ Sportsbook in April, shortly after the state law making sports wagering legal. FanDuel will open a luxury sportsbook retail location inside the Phoenix Suns Arena as part of the arrangement.

In late July, Penn Interactive’s Barstool Sportsbook announced a new multi-year agreement with NASCAR to become the exclusive sportsbook of Phoenix Raceway.

In a non-related sports betting partnership, Barstool Sports has a multi-year sponsorship, along with broadcasting rights on all its channels, for the Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl in Tucson.

The game, to be played on Dec. 31, will feature teams from the Mid-American Conference and the Mountain West Conference.
