Fully in the midst of a midseason tailspin, it’s now or never for first-year Arizona Wildcats head football coach Brent Brennan, who has watched his team fall in successive weeks to Big 12 rivals Texas Tech and BYU by a combined margin of 69-41. The Wildcats’ most recent loss came in Provo, where the 14th ranked Cougars handed Arizona a 41-19 shellacking along the foothills of the Wasatch, knocking the U of A to 3-3 for the year and 1-2 in Big 12 play.
Not the best outcome for Tetairoa McMillan's Heisman case, either.
Now, Brennan and company return to Tucson to host Coach Prime and the Colorado Buffaloes on homecoming weekend, with the 4-2 Buffs and 3-3 ‘Cats squaring off at 1 p.m. local time on FOX.
Right now, oddsmakers from Bet365 Arizona have the Wildcats down as a four-point home favorite over CU, with a -190 moneyline on Brennan’s bunch (to +160 for the Buffaloes).
All year long, BetArizona.com will update the Wildcats’ bowl game hypothetical odds, with this week’s update showing destinations like Dallas, Frisco, Phoenix, Los Angeles and El Paso as possibilities for the Big 12 newcomer in 2024.
Bowl | Location | Odds | Percentage Chance |
First Responder Bowl | Dallas, TX | +275 | 26.7% |
Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl | Frisco, TX | +350 | 22.2% |
Guaranteed Rate Bowl | Phoenix, AZ | +520 | 16.1% |
LA Bowl | Los Angeles, CA | +725 | 12.1% |
Tony The Tiger Sun Bowl | El Paso, TX | +850 | 10.5% |
The Field/No Bowl |
| +900 | 10% |
Right now, the odds point in the direction of the Dallas-Fort Worth area for Arizona in 2024, with Dallas’ First Responder Bowl beating out Frisco’s Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl as the top spot to land the Wildcats this bowl season. Arizona has never played a bowl game in the DFW region, with the Wildcats’ previous trips to the Lone Star State for bowl season coming at El Paso’s Sun Bowl.
The Wildcats haven’t played a bowl game in El Paso since 1992, when Dick Tomey led Arizona to a 20-15 loss against the Baylor Bears to cap off a disappointing 6-5-1 campaign in the Old Pueblo.
Throw in possible stops in Phoenix (+520), Los Angeles (+725) and El Paso (+850) and you have this week’s full list of bowl game possibilities for Arizona, as the Wildcats look to get back on track against Shedeur Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes in Tucson on Saturday afternoon.

Arizona’s last five years have seen one bowl game, with the Wildcats reaching the Alamo Bowl last season to snap the program’s five-year postseason drought. Prior to that, the Wildcats’ last trip to a bowl game came in 2017, when they lost the Foster Farms Bowl in the Bay Area to Purdue by a 38-35 score to finish off the Rich Rodriguez era in Tucson.
The Wildcats reached bowls in four straight seasons from 2012 to 2015 and three straight under Stoops from 2008 to 2010, with Arizona missing bowl season entirely from 1999 to 2007.
For the upcoming 2024-25 college football season, Arizona is currently projected to play in the First Responder Bowl in Dallas.
This early in the season, Arizona has not yet qualified for a bowl game. Their most recent bowl game was in the 2023 Alamo Bowl win against Oklahoma.
