Arizona bettors wagered $737.2 million in April, down 1.2% year-over-year and a pullback from the $836.9 million recorded in March. The decline reflects a quieter month on the sports calendar, though the Arizona sports betting market is showing no signs of slowing down with new licensing opportunities on the horizon.
FanDuel and DraftKings Lead Arizona's April Handle
FanDuel Sportsbook AZ topped the revenue chart at $20.3 million, narrowly edging DraftKings' $19.5 million despite nearly identical handle figures, $213.9 million and $215.7 million respectively. BetMGM Arizona came in third with $83.6 million in handle and $6.7 million in revenue, followed by Fanatics at $88.3 million in handle and $4 million in revenue.
Caesars and bet365 Arizona sportsbook rounded out the top six. The state collected roughly $6 million in privilege fees for the month, according to the ADG. As has become the norm in Arizona, mobile dominated with online apps accounting for over 99% of all April wagers at $734.4 million, with retail contributing just $2.8 million.
Arizona Opens Door to New Sportsbooks as License Applications Resume
The April dip does little to overshadow the bigger picture. Since legal sports betting launched in Arizona in 2021, bettors have wagered a staggering $34.6 billion across Arizona betting apps and retail locations, generating $185.8 million in privilege fees for the state.
With 13 licensed operators currently in the market, and a vacancy left by Sporttrade's exit, there is room for new competition. The Arizona Department of Gaming has announced a new application window for event wagering licenses running from June 26 through July 10, 2026, potentially bringing fresh options to bettors and new Arizona sportsbook promos to the market in the months ahead.
