Cardinals Super Bowl Odds Take A Hit After First Loss

The dream of an undefeated season for the Arizona Cardinals came crashing down in the suburbs of Phoenix on Thursday night.

That’s when the 7-0 Cardinals lost to Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay 24-21, as Kyler Murray threw an interception from the Packers' 5-yard line with 15 seconds left in the game.

The hard-fought loss didn’t merely knock the Cardinals from the ranks of the unblemished, but it also tarnished Arizona sports betting apps on the club at large.

Cardinals Super Bowl Odds Take a Hit

Murray and company woke up Monday to see their AZ Super Bowl betting odds below the Dallas Cowboys and Packers, whom the Cardinals were ahead of in Arizona NFL betting as of this time last week.

The Cardinals’ best Super Bowl odds come from BetMGM Arizona and DraftKings Sportsbook Arizona, which list Arizona at +1000 -- fifth out of 32 NFL teams.

Others, like Caesars Sportsbook Arizona and FanDuel Sportsbook Arizona, have the Cardinals at +1100 to win Super Bowl LVI, with Arizona ranking sixth on Caesars standings and seventh at FanDuel.

Finally, TwinSpires Sportsbook Arizona has the Cardinals at +1200, which is seventh in the league in its Super Bowl odds standings.

Stacking up Kyler Murray’s NFL MVP Odds

Another storyline throughout the 2021 regular season has been the NFL MVP odds for Murray.

The former Heisman Trophy winning QB currently sits alone or in a tie for second at Caesars Sportsbook (+500), DraftKings Sportsbook Arizona (+600), FanDuel Sportsbook Arizona (+600) and TwinSpires Sportsbook Arizona (+500) and is third on the leaderboard at BetMGM Arizona (+500).

Murray was either No. 1 or in a tie for the top spot on most Arizona sports betting sites entering Week 8 of the NFL season before the Cardinals' loss to the Packers.

One issue that may hamper Murray going forward is the ankle sprain he suffered Thursday night. He is listed as questionable to play against the 49ers.

Murray’s injury has been one of the few setbacks for the third year QB, as he ranks in the top 5 in the NFL in passing yards (2,276) and passing touchdowns (17), while sitting sixth overall in QBR (63.2).

Cardinals Road Favorites Against 49ers

The Cardinals are tasked with hitting the road to face off against a 3-4 San Francisco 49ers squad Sunday afternoon in the Bay Area.

A trio of operators – BetMGM Arizona, DraftKings Sportsbook Arizona and FanDuel Sportsbook Arizona – have the Cardinals at -2.5 (-115) in the Week 9 matchup.

For those playing the moneyline, DraftKIngs Sportsbook Arizona has the Cardinals at -145, as does BetMGM Arizona, while FanDuel Sportsbook Arizona puts the visitors at -144.

As far as over/under, all three operators list the number to hit at 46 or 46.5 total points (-110).

Must be 21+ and present in AZ. T&Cs apply.

Arizona Look for Season Sweep of San Francisco

The Cardinals came away with a 17-10 win in the teams’ previous matchup this season during Week 5.

That clash saw Murray throw for 239 yards and a touchdown, with DeAndre Hopkins leading all wideouts with 87 receiving yards and a score.

The Cardinals last swept the 49ers in 2018. San Francisco swept Arizona in 2019 and the teams split their two contests in 2020.
