Where Carroll Ranks Among D’backs Rookies

Carroll has a definite shot at knocking off former starting pitcher Brandon Webb as Arizona’s No. 1 rookie in terms of WAR production, standing 2.2 wins behind Webb’s 5.9 in 2003.

Carroll currently leads other Arizona franchise cornerstones, such as outfielders Ender Inciarte (3.3 WAR in 2014) and AJ Pollack (3.1 WAR in 2013) when it comes to D’backs rookie WAR.

Assuming the 22-year-old corner outfielder continues accumulating WAR the way he has through 76 games this year (averaging 0.05 WAR per game), Carroll would finish the 2023 MLB season with a year-end total of 7.8 WAR — which would be the highest total for a Rookie of the Year winner in either league since Mike Trout’s 10.5 WAR total in 2012.

Needless to say, such WAR production would also propel Carroll to the top spot among Arizona rookies — meaning you might want to use Arizona sports betting promo codes now to lock in his ROY odds.
