Phoenix Set to Host NBA All-Star 2027

NBA All-Star 2027 will take place in Phoenix, Arizona, from Feb. 19 to 21, marking the event's first return to the city since 2009. The 76th NBA All-Star Game will be played on Sunday, Feb. 21, at Mortgage Matchup Center, home of the Phoenix Suns. The announcement adds another major sporting event to Arizona, where regulated Arizona sports betting has been available since 2021.

All-Star Weekend Schedule

NBA All-Star on-court events will begin Friday, Feb. 19, with NBA Rising Stars, an annual showcase for top rookies and second-year players. State Farm All-Star Saturday Night follows on Feb. 20, featuring the Kia Skills Challenge, the STARRY 3-Point Challenge and AT&T Slam Dunk. The weekend concludes Sunday, Feb. 21, with the NBA All-Star Game.

The NBA will also host additional events around Phoenix, including NBA All-Star Practice presented by AT&T, the Ruffles NBA All-Star Celebrity Game and an NBA All-Star fan fest offering access to players, legends and celebrities. NBA Cares community initiatives will also take place in partnership with local schools and nonprofit organizations.

Phoenix's All-Star History

Phoenix will host the NBA All-Star Game for the fourth time in 2027, following 1975, 1995 and 2009. The city most recently hosted the event in 2009, when the Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant scored 27 points and the Phoenix Suns' Shaquille O'Neal added 17 points in 11 minutes as the pair shared All-Star Game MVP honors in a 146-119 Western Conference win over the Eastern Conference. During the 2009 Rising Stars Challenge, Kevin Durant scored an event-record 46 points in his second NBA season with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Phoenix also hosted the All-Star Game in 1995, when the Sacramento Kings' Mitch Richmond scored 23 points off the bench to earn MVP honors as the Western Conference beat the Eastern Conference 139-112. Miami Heat players swept the weekend's contests that year, with Harold Miner winning the Slam Dunk Contest and Glen Rice winning the 3-Point Contest. In 1975, the New York Knicks' Walt Frazier scored 30 points to earn MVP honors as the Eastern Conference beat the Western Conference 108-102 in Phoenix's first All-Star Game.

Announcement Details

The NBA announced Phoenix as the host city for the 2027 NBA All-Star Weekend on March 7, 2024. Commissioner Adam Silver was joined by Suns Chairman Mat Ishbia and Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs during the announcement.
