The Arizona Department of Gaming announced on August 3 that it has allocated an event wagering operator license to Circa Sports Arizona LLC, designee for the San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe.
The allocation took effect July 27. The department made the allocation under the authority set out in Arizona Revised Statutes section 5-1304 and Arizona Administrative Code R19-4-105 and 106. Legal Arizona sports betting and event wagering began in 2021.

How the License Became Available
The department opened an application window between June 26 and July 10, 2026, which included no less than one license reserved for Arizona Tribes and no less than one reserved for Arizona Sports Franchises. ADG then evaluated the applications against the criteria set out in the state's event wagering rules and statutes. The 2021 enabling legislation allows for a maximum of 20 event wagering operator licenses, with ten reserved for Arizona Tribes and ten reserved for Arizona Sports Franchises.
Sporttrade announced its exit from Arizona in May 2026 after operating under the Quechan Tribe's license. Its Arizona customers had until June 25 to withdraw their funds, and platform access ended the next day.
What Happens Next
With the allocation, Circa will be approved to offer sports betting and event wagering in Arizona. The department said it will work with the licensee on next steps for the operational launch. Circa is not yet among the live Arizona betting apps operating in the state. The department encourages residents to check that any wagering platform appears on its list of approved operators before using it.

Where Circa Operates Now
Circa Sports currently runs sportsbooks in Nevada, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky and Missouri. If Circa launches in Arizona, it would be the company's seventh state with sportsbook operations.
Arizona bettors have wagered $35.3 billion since legal sports betting and event wagering began in the state in 2021, generating approximately $190.6 million in event wagering privilege fees.
