Ranking Top 5 NFL Betting Apps

The best NFL betting apps include Caesars Sportsbook, BetMGM, DraftKings Sportsbook, bet365, and Betway.

The best NFL betting apps are ranked based on user experience and ratings, odds availability and market offerings, as well as ease of use and promotional offerings for new users and returning customers.

Below I'll dive deeper into my NFL betting app reviews of these five Arizona sportsbooks.

Best Overall NFL Betting App: BetMGM

BetMGM Sportsbook lands among the best NFL betting sites thanks to an easy-to-use platform, as well as their competitive odds offerings. BetMGM Arizona Sportsbook app offers all of the most common types of sports bets, including live betting and cashout offers. Perhaps the most significant edge the operator has over its competitors lies in their frequent promotional offers for current customers, including odds boost promotions, bonus bet credits, and parlay insurance.

  • App Features: Live betting and cashout, competitive odds, frequent promotional offerings for existing customers
Bonus Bets Expire in 7 Days. One New Customer Offer Only. Must be 21+ to participate & present in AZ. Gambling problem? Call 1-800-NEXT-STEP. Visit BetMGM.com for Terms & Conditions. US promotional offers not available in NY, NV, or Puerto Rico.

Best NFL Betting App for Bonuses: Caesars Sportsbook

NFL betting sites commonly run promotional offers to refund your first bet if it loses. However, they sometimes come with the caveat that they will only refund a certain percentage of your initial wager in bonus bets, while Caesars Sportsbook Arizona app offers 100% of your initial wager up to $1,000 — a strong offer compared to the offerings of their competitors.

What ranks this operator among the best NFL betting sites for bonuses is its tier-based rewards system, where users earn points for wagers, table games, slot play and more, which can be redeemed for in-app bonuses, sports tickets and more experiences.

  • App Features: Strong signup offer and points-based rewards program

Best NFL Betting App for NFL Odds: DraftKings Sportsbook

DraftKings Sportsbook is among the best NFL betting sites on the market. This is thanks, in large part, to their extensive list of offerings. Odds are currently live for each game in the 2023 NFL season, as well as an exhaustive list of NFL futures options. These futures include odds to awards like MVP and Offensive Rookie of the Year, team win totals, and player props, among others. Odds for the 2024 NFL Draft are also currently live on the  DraftKings Sportsbook app in Arizona, including odds for the No. 1 overall pick, as well as odds for the first quarterback and non-quarterback to be selected.

  • App Features: Wide range of available betting markets, easy-to-use app, in-app promotions/odds specials for new and current users

Is It Legal to Bet on the NFL Online?

Yes, it is legal to bet on the NFL online in 28 states, as well as Washington D.C. Mobile sportsbooks often offer ways to place NFL bets online either on your desktop computer or mobile device using a sports betting app. They do, however, require that you provide your location information in order to verify that you are placing your bets from a state where mobile sports betting is legal.

NFL Betting in Arizona

Sports betting is legal in Arizona, officially going live in September of 2021, just ahead of the NFL season. As of June 2023, there are 17 sportsbooks operating in the state of Arizona, with new options coming available frequently. In 2022, the first full year that sports betting was legalized in Arizona, the state ranked 10th in sports betting handle with just under $10 billion wagered.

NFL Betting in the U.S.

The U.S. Supreme Court struck down federal legislation that would prohibit sports betting in May of 2018, and since that time, individual states have had the right to enact statewide betting laws. Since then, 38 states have legalized sports betting in some capacity. Mobile sports betting is now legalized in 28 states, with the rest of those legal betting states offering in-person betting options only.

Here's a look at some of the most important recent updates in NFL sports betting legislation:

  • 📆 January 11, 2024: Vermont officially launched online sports betting after legalizing in June of the previous year.
  • 📆 September 28, 2023: Kentucky launches online sports betting in the state. They launched retail sports betting on September 7, just as the 2023 NFL season got kicked off.
  • 📆 June 2, 2023: Vermont becomes the 28th state to legalize sports betting, projected to launch mobile sports betting in January of 2024.
  • 📆 May 11, 2023: The Texas House gave final approval on legislation to allow voters to decide whether or not to legalize online sports betting — the most progress Texas has seen toward legalizing sports betting in years.
  • 📆 March 31, 2023: Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear signs HB 551 into law, legalizing sports betting starting June 28, 2023.
  • 📆 March 10, 2023: Mobile sports betting goes live in Massachusetts after being approved in 2022.
  • 📆 January 1, 2023: Sports betting was officially made legal in the state of Ohio, including in-person and online betting.
  • 📆 November 9, 2022: Two California sports betting prop measures (Prop 26 and Prop 27) were struck down with a 70.1% and 83.3% vote against, respectively.

Popular NFL Events To Bet On

Arizona NFL betting apps offer odds on each game throughout the season, but there are also a number of popular NFL events to bet on, offering consumers a wide variety of odds to wager on even through the postseason.

NFL Playoffs

There are a number of ways to bet on the NFL playoffs with most of the major NFL betting apps. A common market offering is whether or not a team will make the playoffs, with odds provided for "Yes" and "No." This type of wager is available for all NFL teams on most major sportsbooks and is considered a type of team futures bet.

NFL betting apps also offer odds on who will win each NFL division in the AFC and NFC, which is another round-about way to bet on which teams will make the NFL playoffs, since the winner of each division automatically earns a trip to the postseason.

Sportsbooks have several other ways to wager on the NFL playoffs, including the ability to wager on which team will win the AFC and NFC Conference Championships. The Chiefs and Eagles are widely considered favorites to win their respective conferences in the 2023-24 NFL season.

In addition to betting on teams to make the NFL playoffs, some NFL betting sites also offer odds on the exact stage of elimination for each team, with odds available to bet on each team to miss the playoffs, lose in the Wild Card Round, lose in the Divisional Round, lose in the Conference Championship Game, lose in the Super Bowl, or win the Super Bowl outright.

Super Bowl

The most basic bet you can make on the Super Bowl is which team will win it all. These odds are pretty straightforward and are a strong indicator about how oddsmakers are feeling about each team heading into the 2023 NFL season. Bets on which team will win the Super Bowl are considered NFL futures bets, because their outcomes won't be decided immediately. Among the favorites to win the Super Bowl at most NFL betting sites are the Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers and Cincinnati Bengals.

Another type of Super Bowl wager is a bet on which two teams will compete in the Super Bowl. Basically, placing this type of wager means you are predicting which team will win the AFC Championship and which team will win the AFC Championship in the 2023-24 NFL season.

The most specific type of Super Bowl bet offered by NFL betting apps includes a wager on the exact result of the Super Bowl. This means that the bettor must not only correctly predict which team will win Super Bowl LVIII, but also which team they will beat.

MVP

Most NFL betting apps offer odds on which player will win 2023-24 NFL MVP. These odds will continue to be updated and fluctuate throughout the season, based on player and team performance. Most often, the NFL MVP award is given to a quarterback, though it is possible for other positions to win. The last non-quarterback to win NFL MVP was running back Adrian Peterson in 2012, who finished the year with 2,097 rushing yards — the second-most in a single season in NFL history.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is the odds favorite to win 2023-24 NFL MVP at most major sportsbooks. He is closely followed by other quarterbacks, such as Joe Burrow (Cincinnati Bengals), Jalen Hurts (Philadelphia Eagles), and Josh Allen (Buffalo Bills).

You can track Cardinals QB Kyler Murray's MVP odds all season long with BetArizona.com.

NFC/AFC Divisions

The best NFL betting sites will offer odds on which team will win each NFL division. There are eight total divisions in the NFL, including a North, South, East, and West division in both the AFC and NFC conferences. The winner of each division automatically earns a bid to the NFL postseason, which gives also earns the team home-field advantage in the Wild Card Round.

There are four teams with minus-odds to win their respective division with most major sportbooks, including the Jaguars (AFC South), Chiefs (AFC West), Eagles (NFC East), and 49ers (NFC West).

Offensive/Defensive Rookie of the Year

Most NFL betting apps offer odds to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in the 2023-24 NFL season. The odds-favorite to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year this season is Atlanta Falcons RB Bijan Robinson, who was selected No. 8 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. At the quarterback position, NFL betting sites are generally favoring Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young by a slim margin over Colts QB Anthony Richardson and Texans QB C.J. Stroud. The award has gone to a wide receiver in each of the last years, with Ja'Marr Chase (Bengals) and Garrett Wilson (Jets) having won the award in he t2021 and 2022 NFL seasons, respectively.

Most NFL betting apps also offer odds to win NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year for the 2023-24 NFL season. As of June 19, Texans DE Will Anderson Jr. is regarded as the odds-favorite to win Defensive Rookie of the Year at most sportsbooks. Houston invested significant draft capital in Anderson, trading the No. 12 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, as well as the Texans' 2024 first-round draft selection in order to back up move up to No. 3. Though the move has been widely critiqued (and criticized) by draft analysts, Anderson should prove to be an immediate difference maker with potential for sack production right out of the gate. Other names generally favored behind Anderson Jr. include DT Jalen Carter (Eagles), DE Tyree Wilson (Raiders), and CB Devon Witherspoon (Seahawks).

Other NFL season awards available to wager on in select markets include Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, as well as Coach of the Year.

Choosing an NFL Betting App

With the ever-growing number of sports betting apps for users to choose from, it can seem like an overwhelming decision. When choosing an NFL betting app, there are a number of things to consider, including the trustworthiness of the site, as well as what kind of experiences users report with the book in question.

  • Types of Bets Offered You may want to choose an NFL betting app based on what kind of bets they offer, as not all sportsbooks offer the same odds. Available betting markets will also vary from state to state pending regional legislation.
  • Odds and Betting Lines for NFL Games The best NFL betting sites provide timely and sharp betting odds and lines for NFL games. Major sportsbooks typically have odds and betting lines for the following week's NFL games by Sunday evening. These odds then continue to fluctuate throughout the week based on how sports bettors are wagering.
  • NFL Betting Bonuses When considering an NFL betting app, you will want to consider not just initial promotional offers but also ongoing offers, promotions and betting bonuses for current customers. The best NFL betting sites offer incentives to current customers to place bets, such as "odds specials" where they will temporarily "boost" the odds for a certain wager in favor of more profitability for the sports bettor. Some sportsbooks also offer promotions to reward frequent bettors, for example, rewards systems.
  • User Experience The best NFL betting sites will provide their users with a positive experience, which includes an easy-to-use interface. This includes providing users the ability to access their platforms and wager from their mobile devices, whether that be from their phone's mobile browser or an NFL betting app. You can learn about the experiences of users by reading product reviews or app reviews (if you're on your mobile device).
  • Deposits and Withdrawals The best NFL betting sites will provide their customers with quick, easy, and secure transactions. This is true for whether or not a user is looking to make a deposit or withdraw winnings. Things you may consider are the ways the sportsbook processes payment (whether that be directly from your bank account, using a debit card, or using a third-party processing service like PayPal), as well as minimum and maximum deposit amounts. You may also consider how long it takes to receive your funds after requesting a withdrawal, or whether or not the sportsbook has a minimum dollar value for processing withdrawals.
  • Customer Service Though NFL betting sites are typically pretty reliable when it comes to settling bets in an accurate and timely fashion, there's always the potential that you may need some help with your account at some point in time. Consider user reviews and reported experiences with customer service. These considerations should include how easy it is to reach a customer service representative, as well as timeliness and responsiveness regarding customer concerns.

Mobile NFL Sports Betting Apps

When picking out a mobile NFL sports betting app, it is important to check out the ratings in the Google Play or Apple iOS app store. User reviews are a helpful tool for understanding the average user's experience with the mobile sportsbook. Check out their average rating and spend time looking through the comments to gauge what users like about the app or if there is a common complaint you should be aware of before signing up for an account.

It's worth noting that sportsbooks use your location information to confirm that you are located in a state where mobile sports betting is legal before you can place your wagers. Sportsbooks are also required to collect this information for regulatory purposes, including verifying your identity and that you are of legal betting age. Operators require your social security number for tax documentation on your winnings. Don't worry, though; mobile sportsbooks encrypt this information to ensure your privacy.

How do NFL odds work?

NFL odds indicate how much profit a bettor will win if their wager were to cash. The team favored to win a game is indicated with a minus sign (-), where the number that follows indicates how much money a bettor would have to wager in order to win $100 in profit.

The underdog of a given matchup is indicated with a plus sign (+), where the number that follows indicates how much profit a bettor would win with a $100 wager.

NFL Moneyline Betting

NFL moneyline betting is one of the simplest concepts for new sports bettors, despite its fancy name. A moneyline bet is simply a wager on which team will win the game, regardless of the margin of victory or how many points are scored. The team favored to win is indicated with a minus sign, and the underdog is indicated with a plus sign. Odds continue to fluctuate throughout the week leading up to the matchup based on team news, as well as betting trends from those who have already wagered on the game.

NFL Spread Betting

NFL Spread Betting is one of the most common types of NFL wagers. Oddsmakers set the point spread to "even the odds" between two unevenly matched teams by projecting the margin of victory. When looking at the point spread, the team favored to win has a minus sign, while the underdog has a plus sign. The goal is to project which team will win and by how much. Winning an NFL point spread bet is also known as "covering the spread."

To "cover the spread" when betting on an odds favorite, for example, Falcons -2, Atlanta would need to win the matchup in question by three or more points. If the Falcons won the matchup by exactly two points, this would be considered a push — AKA, a tie — and the original wager would be returned.

The underdog can "cover the spread" in one of two ways. If wagering on the Buccaneers +2, the Buccaneers would "cover the spread" either by 1) Winning the game outright, or 2) Losing by fewer than two points. If the Buccaneers lost by exactly two points, this would be considered a push, and your original wager would be returned.

Sometimes, sportsbooks will tack on 0.5 points to the point spread, which is known as the "hook." This eliminates the chance of a tie, known in sports betting as a "push," where the wager is essentially canceled out and returned to the bettor. To cover the spread with a hook, for example, Falcons -2.5, Atlanta would have to win the matchup by 2 or more points. The underdog, for example, Buccaneers +2.5, would either have to win the game outright or by losing by two or fewer points.

NFL Over/Under Betting

NFL over/under betting, sometimes referred to as "betting the point total," is a wager placed on the total number of points both teams will combine for in a given matchup. Point totals are available for all NFL games throughout the season with the major sportsbooks, challenging sports bettors to project whether the two teams will combine for more or fewer points than the number installed by oddsmakers. Odds for the point total are typically installed at -110, meaning it would take a $110 wager on the correct outcome in order to win $100 profit.

There are a number of things that can influence a given matchup's projected point total, including (but not limited to) how well a team's offense and defense have performed in recent matchups, as well as weather and field conditions, and injuries to key players.

NFL Parlay Betting

NFL Parlay Betting refers to the act of combining two or more bets (known as legs) into one, giving bettors the ability to make multiple predictions within the same bet. In order to win an NFL parlay bet, each of the individual outcomes must be predicted correctly. That means if even just one of the legs does not cash, the parlay loses, and no profits are won.

The upside of NFL parlay betting is the ability to win more profit. The odds for a parlay are increased when compared to the odds for each individual bet, accounting for the lower likelihood that a bettor will correctly predict each outcome. Though NFL parlay betting can be a fun way to enjoy NFL action, parlays are inherently risky, given the need to predict each individual outcome correctly.

NFL Player Props

NFL player props are wagers placed on a given player's performance in a given statistical category. For quarterbacks, the most commonly available NFL player props include passing yard totals, passing touchdown totals, and whether or not they will throw an interception. For running backs, commonly available NFL player props include rushing and receiving yard totals, as well as anytime touchdown scorer bets. For wide receivers and tight ends, commonly available player props include receiving yard totals and anytime touchdown scorer bets.

NFL Team Props

NFL Team Props are wagers on a specific team's performance that are not tied to the win or loss outcome of a specific game. NFL Team Prop Bets include wagers like how many total touchdowns a team will score or how many games a given team's longest regular season winning streak will last.

NFL Futures

NFL Futures bets are wagers on outcomes that will be decided later in the NFL season or after the season ends. These wagers include bets on outcomes such as which team will win the 2024 Super Bowl or which team will win a certain division or conference. Betting odds for some of these NFL futures markets remain live throughout the season, though odds will continually fluctuate based on team performance and news.
