With the MLB regular season well underway at Arizona sportsbooks, it’s worth considering how long it’ll take clubs to pull the trigger on calling up their top prospects from the farm in 2025. After Jordan Lawlar got called up by the Arizona Diamondbacks, BetArizona.com developed hypothetical odds projecting who will be called up next during this MLB season.

Each spring, a few elite MLB prospects get the call they’ve waited their entire lives for, with Lawlar being the latest to move on up after the 22-year-old hit .336 with six homers, 31 RBIs and 15 doubles in 37 games with the D’backs’ AAA affiliate, the Reno Aces. The up-and-coming infielder was ranked as the 13th best prospect in baseball entering the season by Baseball America, down six spots from the year before but marking the fourth straight season where Lawlar made the publication’s top prospects list in total.
Now that he’s off to the Bigs, the leading top tier MiLB prospects that could be next in line include Pittsburgh Pirates’ pitching star-to-be Bubba Chandler, who leads our list at +250 after going 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA on the bump while striking out 41 hitters across 28 innings pitched in AAA this season.
Overall, Chandler slots in slightly ahead of Roman Anthony and Marcelo Mayer of the Boston Red Sox, who are listed at +350 and +450, respectively, after the former was ranked No. 2 leaguewide by Baseball America in the publication’s top prospects list, while Mayer clocked in at No. 15.
This season, Anthony (.302 average, 5 homers and 17 RBIs in 35 games played) and Mayer (.269 with 7 homers and 35 RBIs in 34 games played) have excelled in AAA with the Worchester Red Sox of the International League, putting them ahead of fellow top prospects like Leo De Vries of the San Diego Padres (+550) and Philadelphia Phillies’ pitching prospect Andrew Painter (+850).
De Vries kicked off 2025 as the 18th ranked prospect on Baseball America’s list before starting the season with a .289 average to go with 4 homers, 21 RBIs and an .894 OPS in 27 games played with the Padres’ high-A affiliate (the Fort Wayne TinCaps). Painter made his AAA debut on Thursday, throwing three scoreless innings with the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs, striking out five while walking three and surrendering one hit for the International League club in a 3-1 win by the club over Anthony, Mayer and the Worchester Red Sox.
