What Side Dishes Do Arizonans Prefer?

When discussing Arizona’s Thanksgiving traditions, it seems like the state’s three largest cities all share a top choice, with stuffing being the side dish of choice in Phoenix, Tucson and Yuma.  That trend applied statewide as well, with Arizonans at large picking stuffing as their No. 1 Thanksgiving side dish, with a search interest score of 15, beating out holiday stalwarts like macaroni & cheese and green bean casserole, which finished second overall with scores of eight apiece.

Throw in mashed potatoes (six search interest score) and sweet potato casserole (three search interest score) and you have Arizona’s top five Thanksgiving side dishes, with mac & cheese ranking as the second favorite side in the state’s three largest cities, while green bean casserole placed third overall in Phoenix, Tucson and Yuma this year.

Overall, Yuma residents had the largest percentages that preferred stuffing (42% to Phoenix’s 40% and Tucson’s 39%) and mac & cheese (21% to Phoenix and Tucson’s 19%), while Phoenix residents had the highest percentage for green bean casserole compared with the other two areas (18% to Tucson’s 17% and Yuma’s 14%).

This Thanksgiving, it appears safe to assume that Arizonans will be serving up a healthy dose of stuffing, macaroni & cheese and green bean casserole, given the interest online in the three holiday classics across the 48th State.
