The WNBA begins its regular season May 16, embarking on a record long 44-game slate.

BetArizona.com, your home for Arizona sports betting, created a scoring system to measure the best fan experience in all WNBA markets. We factored in 2024 game attendance, fanbase sentiment from Hootsuite, the number of star players, number of promotional nights, and if sports betting is legal where each team plays. Mercury Among WNBA’s Best For Fan Experience

Given Phoenix’s longstanding success in the 13-team league, with three WNBA championships (2007, 2009 and 2014) and 10 consecutive trips to the postseason from 2013 to 2022, it’s little surprise that the Valley’s women’s basketball franchise is among the leaders in fan experience.

Overall, the Mercury’s total score of 132 points ranked third in the WNBA, behind the Las Vegas Aces (153 points) and the New York Liberty (148 points). The Mercury ranked ahead of the Indiana Fever (126 points) and Chicago Sky (115 points), speaking to the importance of staying power in the league.

The Mercury lost star forward Brittney Griner to free agency and the league’s all-time leading scorer (Diana Taurasi) to retirement, but a lot of talented players return. Four-time All-Star guard Kahleah Copper leads the team out of the backcourt while five-time All-Star Alyssa Thomas is charged with replacing Griner’s production in the paint. Thomas averaged 12.2 points in 320 games played with the Connecticut Sun from 2014 to 2024.

That on-court experience is part of the reason why the Mercury are currently fifth on DraftKings Sportsbook Arizona’s WNBA title odds board entering the regular season at +1800 as of May 8. Phoenix sits behind the two teams ahead of them on our WNBA fan experience list (New York at +230 and Las Vegas at +350) plus the Fever, who are third at +350, with the Minnesota Lynx in between those two franchises, at +380.
