Few elements of Americana unite us all quite like a good television show, with residents of all 50 states, as well as Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico having a program they love dearly.

Whether it be a streaming show, such as Disney+ program “The Mandalorian” or Apple TV’s “Ted Lasso,” or more traditional television programs like HBO’s “The Last Of Us” and “Succession,” there’s no shortage of favorites across the country.

BetArizona.com took a break from sports betting on Arizona sportsbooks and utilized IMDB’s list of the Top 50 most watched TV shows in the United States during 2023 as a starting point for the research project, as well as AhRefs to finalize the Top 5 most searched shows.

The shows were “The Last of Us,” “Ted Lasso,” “The Mandalorian,” “Succession” and “The Bear.” We then used Google Trends to search each show to see the highest level of interest in each state. After completing the trends since Jan. 1, 2023, we were able to average out the results to get the top TV shows for each state.

Arizona Follows National Trend

The Grand Canyon State followed national trends by picking “The Last Of Us” as the No. 1 TV program, with 31% of searches centering around the HBO post-apocalyptic thriller. If Arizona betting apps took wagers on such things, “The Last of US” would be a huge national favorite.

Rounding out the top three among Arizona’s favorite TV shows were “The Mandalorian,” which finished in a tie with “Ted Lasso” for second place, with both shows coming in at 22%. All but seven states picked “The Last Of Us” as their No. 1 choice for top TV programs, with “Succession” taking home the top spot in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York, while “Ted Lasso” was the top pick in Maine, Maryland and Vermont.
