Arizona’s Ultimate Bucket List Items

Fact Checked by Nate Hamilton

One of the wonders of the world happens to reside within the 48th State, with the Northern Arizona National Park becoming practically synonymous with Arizona over the years, thanks to the 1.2 million acre gorge’s natural wonder.

Unsurprisingly, pilgrimages to Grand Canyon National Park dwarf other “bucket list” items for Arizonans, beating out other once-in-a-lifetime events like going scuba diving, getting married, and visiting Paris as the most in-demand activity for residents of the Grand Canyon State.

National Bucket List Day is April 24. BetArizona decided to take a quick break from Arizona sports betting updates and see what Arizona residents dream of doing before they die. Starting with a list of top bucket list ideas from BucketList.net, we used Google Trends to see which ranked the highest according to search interest score.

What Bucket List Items Do Arizonans Want To Do Most?

The overwhelming favorite when it came to top bucket list items for Arizona residents was to visit the country’s 15th national park, with the Grand Canyon scoring a search interest score of 65, more than twice as much as the No. 2 activity (scuba diving, at 27).

Throw in getting married (24 search volume score), going to Paris (22 search interest score), running a marathon and buying a house (12 search interest score each) and you have the top bucket list items in the state.

Farther down the list, can’t-miss items like going skydiving (seven search interest score), ziplining (six search interest score), donating blood (five search interest score) and getting a tattoo (four search interest score) rounded out the top 10 in Arizona, illustrating the wide variety of items that Arizonans see as being bucket list worthy.

Given the fact that Grand Canyon National Park was the second-most visited NPS facility in the nation, with 4.73 visitors (trailing only Great Smoky National Park, at 13.29 million), it should be of little surprise that the 105-year-old national park is the state’s top bucket list item in 2024.
